Listening to Classes/Burning CDs

Instructions on downloading and listening to our MP3 class files:

Ok. So you want to experience a previously recorded class. Here's what you need to do:

First, choose your operating system:

Windows XP:

XP is very intuitive and makes it very easy to listen to our classes either on your computer or your home, car or portable CD player.

Listening to a class on the computer that you use to download the file:

Choose the class you want to download and left click once on your mouse.

A window will pop up and choose open.

The file will start to download (yes you can work on other programs while it downloads in the background). Downloading times range from a few minutes if you have DSL or Cable modem to 35-45 minutes if you are using dial-up. Whatever speed your connection is, you will be glad you spent the time to download the class!

Burning a class on a CD rom so you can listen to it on any CD player:

Choose the class you want to download and left click once on your mouse.

A window will pop up and choose "Save."

You will be asked to choose a name for the file and where you want to save it on your hard drive (the easiest place to save it is your desktop). Once these choices are made the file will start to download. Downloading times range from a few minutes if you have DSL or Cable modem to 35-45 minutes if you are using dial-up. Whatever speed your connection is you will be glad you spent the time to download the class!

Once the file is done downloading, locate it on your hard drive (this is where the desktop choice comes in real handy!).

Insert a blank CD rom into your CD writer. If a pop up window comes up on your screen choose "Open writable CD folder using Windows Explorer". A blank window will open up showing you that you have no files on the CD rom. Make the window small enough so you can see the downloaded class file on your desktop.

Place your mouse cursor over the downloaded class file, left click and hold your mouse, drag the file into the window of your blank CD. Release the left mouse button the file will show in the window. From the menu choices on the left hand side of the window, choose write files to CD. The CD wizard window will pop up.

Choose a name for your CD. A window will pop up asking if you want to make a audio CD or a data CD. Choose audio CD. Windows media player will open up. From the list of files shown on the left side of the window, place a check mark on the file you want to burn to your CD and uncheck all others. Choose copy music. The file will start to copy itself onto your CD. This may take up anywhere from 5-20 minutes depending on the speed of your burner. Once it is done, the CD will eject and you can close the windows media player window and your CD window if they have not closed on their own. You are now ready to play your downloaded class on virtually any cd player including your computer. Nice job and congratulations!

Windows 98

Windows 98 is not as intuitive as XP and may take a few more steps and some special software in certain cases.

Listening to a class on your computer:

Choose the class you want to download and left click once on your mouse.

A window will pop up and choose "Open."

Your computer will open up your default CD player software and start streaming the audio of the recorded class. That's it, you're done! Enjoy.

Burning a class on a CD rom so you can listen to it on any CD player:

Choose the class you want to download and right click once on your mouse.

A window will pop up and choose "Save" or "Save Target."

This is where it we hit a gray area. There are many possible scenarios you may encounter depending on how your computer is set up and the CD writing software that is installed on your computer. We will review the most likely scenario and hope for the best.

The CD burner software program should start up once you insert a blank CD rom into the drive. From here you want to follow the prompts to make an Audio disk capable of playing on most CD players. Follow the prompts from the software program and you should be OK.

Windows 95

It's time to upgrade. You're on your own!

Macintosh OSX:

Listening to a class on your computer:

Double click on the file and it should begin playing. Simple!

Burning a class on a CD rom so you can listen to it on any CD player:
